Mine is this SOB
If it can:
trip me over
fall over itself
entice me to slip and break something with the Metal tube
or hit myself randomly trying to dismantle it
IT WILL.

Ever since it was purchased I think it is Possessed
and hates me!
Even looking at it in the cupboard it appears Menacing smile

anyone else have the unfortunate experience of a appliance that appears to dislike you..

Before I clicked here,I thought a nemisis was a make of appliance I hadn't heard of.

You didn't use a capital N though.

Bosch washing machine - beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep beep until presumably the end of time. I wouldn't know as I haven't left it long enough, but I assume the German engineering will do doubt mean it will. Even if you open the door it still bloody beeps until you turn it off. Surely it can work out that if I've opened the door I'm well aware it has finished and therefore no longer needs to beep.

The cooker. When me and my Mrs bought our first house about 20 years ago, we bought a cooker. It had 4 hobs, a grill and another bit at the bottom. It had 6 knobs - 4 for the hobs, 1 knob for the grill (all with numbers) and a knob for the big bit (with temperature on it). It worked very well for a good few years. Fast forward to today, and we now own something that a Concorde pilot would look at and go "that looks fking complicated". If I press the wrong button, it starts beeping at me & flashing on the pointless display - once it does this I can't turn it on because it's "in the wrong mode". It shouldn't have a "mode" - it's a bloody cooker & it's "mode" is to cook. I'm now getting cross, because all I want to do is to put something in the big bit, turn it on & then eat it and I can't, so when my Mrs is out and has left me something for lunch that I "just need to pop it in the oven" I go hungry. Or make toast. The toaster is ok. Of course, I could get the instruction manual out, but I'm a bloke so I won't.

Here's the cooker.

Ours also has a sensor that can detect, despite being in a different room, the exact moment of contact between your buttocks and the sofa, which triggers the finishing BEEEEEEP... BEEEEEEP... BEEEEEEP...

At least ours isn't constant, it does it when it finishes, then again after a minute, then another five, then 15, then if you really ignore it it scares the s### out of you an hour later when you're making dinner because it turns all the lights off but STILL BLOODY BEEPS!!!!

Ironically I think our German appliance has more of a sense of humour than most Germans...

From off, turn the program selector clockwise to position 1 - press & hold in the spin speed button - then turn the program selector to position 2 & release the spin speed button - you should now get a volume bar on the display - turn the program selector to position 3 - then press the the timer button repeatedly to change volume level - set it at zero then turn the program selector back to off. That should get rid of the bleeping...

Ours is currently in storage pending an international move so I'll have a go in a month or so once it's arrived

If this works I shall officially be forever in your debt and you get one free POTUS style favour to be redeemed any time henceforth... wink

From the bottom of my heart thank you.

If you are ever in Leeds, York, Malton or parts close there's a pint with your name on it.

Grade A legend.
