What do we think of this then?
Discussion
So what happens if do gooder number1 happens to spot do gooder number2 speeding "thru our village"?
Does do gooder number1 do what i think theyd do?
Or do they send in do gooder number2's details?
I severely DONT think so!
This idea like all of such densely irritating ones smacks of East German spying techiniques, setting one neighbour against another and "ratting" on others they dont like.
I dont like being spyed on by the likes of these muppets, especially when im driving within the law.
Ill tell you now, point it at me and i WILL take it off you and drive over it before dougnutting on your dammed lawn!
Grassers and Hitlers all of em. My grandad fought the jerries to prevent this kind of "secret" police bullshit!
And the reason i can do it? No number plate and tinted glass..... Report that one Beryl......

"I'm against it because it sets neighbour against neighbour," says Suzan Johnstone, 48, who has lived here nearly 30 years.
"I know someone who's been caught twice and I think it makes people fall out with each other. If you were my neighbour and you caught me three times I would fall out with you.
"I don't want it to end with a brick through someone's window."
Well frankly if you are stupid enough to speed through your own village then you deserve to fall out with your neighbours. Can't say I have any sympathy for people who break 30 limits.
The current speed enforcement regime has me so paranoid that the merest flash of day-glo yellow has me stamping on the anchors. A load of self apointed busy bodies isn't going to help road safety in fact it will possibley have a negative affect.
I agree with Ted's point about speeding through small villages. Not because its inherently dangerous but because its not very good manners. Seeing OAPs with laser guns could well make me speed up out of spite

The offenders get a ticking off from police which they will take no notice of
Like my old theory of;
"Give the punter a ticking off, and they piss up your back; you're forgotten about half a mile down the road. Cost 'em some cash and put points on their licence; and you're remembered for 3 years"

Personally, I would remember your ticking off as a reasoned, fair decision by a professional rather than a revenue-driven slap on the wrist by a speed-obsessed establishment who rely on grey boxes instead of proper policing.

I agree with you wholeheartedly about the grey box obsessed government...although revenue-obsessed and not speed obsessed might be a more accurate description.
As for ticking off v prosection....;
I'm amazed at the number of people i've stopped for offences, then decided I was going to ticket them, only to be told that they are a bit surprised at my decistion, as the last BiB who stopped them for that offence only gave them a warning.
Look what good that did..

Hmmm, not sure I agree with you there. If they were revenue-obsessed, they would increase the fine for no insurance, without due care etc. and get some TrafPol out there enforcing it. Where's the "driving whilst texting" cameras?
