Recruitment Consultant mucking me about?

Hi All,
I received an offer on Tuesday for a role, a day after my final interview with them. The salary was too low so I said no and the consultant went back to the company for a revised offer. I have been waiting for the offer for the past 3 days. The consultant said it takes time to get this through. I was on linkedin and noticed this very role come up. It has been re-advertised this evening.
Also another role through the same consultant that I was going to final stage with has been re-advertised.
I don't know what to think or do. I have dropped the consultant an email, text and voicemail. I am extremely annoyed.

Don't flame me for saying this....
You don't pay the consultant (agency) for their services, they act only for the client.
Not sure how experienced you are at job hunting, but in the world of IT/online recruitment agencies are the gate keepers to the vast majority of jobs - don't be annoyed - try and understand their position.
The client that made you the offer - may have had a hard budget and simply didn't want to pay more, and whilst the agent tries to nudge them to up their offer, they may have insisted on more CV etc
I am not an agent - but have spent well over £100k with them in the past 6 months alone.
Know the system, and work with it - it's not always fair or right but it will get you a new role sooner.

Having read some of your previous posts, I think you have some emotional maturing to do, and possibly a higher opinion of yourself than your current and potential employers.
You turned the job down, they will look at other candidates to see if they are better value for the business. If you want more than the alternative job is paying, why would he put you forward?
The agent is being paid by the business, and not by you. You need to work with the agent rather than piss them off.

Has the role been readvertised by the same agency or by somebody else? If it's the latter then it may be because the hiring company approached several agencies and they're advertising at different times. It may also be that the hiring company doesn't want to give you a definite "no" until they've seen whether or not they can get anybody else more cheaply. So they'll go through the process again and see if anybody as good as you applied.

I appreciate you have read some of my previous posts. I have also commented I need to react differently at certain times. It's a weakness I realise I have. Takes some maturity to accept that! I don't agree with you on I have a higher value on myself than potential employers. I have been on 4 interviews in the past 6 weeks. I turned down one, the CEO of another said he sees me as FD material and not FC material, the other role I am waiting to see the CEO and the last I have the offer mentioned above. 4 interviews and 1 offer, one potential offer and one extremely flattering meeting with a CEO. I have also been invited to an interview for a FD role. I am 35 years old... FD's are in their 40's and 50's. I know I can manage a £25m business... I am doing it now.
One thing I realise is have confidence in yourself and dont let others knock you down.
I think they are worried I will say no. I think I will if the salary isn't right. I guess they have to cover their backs. I don't know how it works with consultants. I guess their client is king. Fair enough. I will pay the game.

Hi Countdown, thank you for your post. The advert is by the same consultant. I think it might be exactly that, they might be trying to get someone cheaper or they are trying to make sure they have people ready in case I say no. It may also be that the hiring company doesn't want to give you a definite "no" until they've seen whether or not they can get anybody else more cheaply. So they'll go through the process again and see if anybody as good as you applied.
I realise now, its not about me, its all about their client. They get paid by the client.

With that info you could conclude whether it might result in a higher offer.
Either way the agent will keep advertising as at the moment they have a candidate who has turned it down - you cannot expect them to sit back and do nothing.

The JD provided by the consultant stated £70k. They offered by less than that however with options in the business. Not having any options previously or being in a position to buy the options I was not keen, hence I declined the first offer.
I stated in the interview the salary range is 70k onwards. I think this caused some confusion as I did not state what I wanted, which was £75k. My error. That said, the JD said £70k so I didnt want to say higher than that and I left it to the consultant to manage it.
Yes, you are spot on, they need to advertise. I guess, I am more keen to know if the company has turned me down and the agent hasn't told me. That is what was getting to me! I really see this as a great role for me and I want to get into the job.

Did you take some effort to understand them (options) , my house and car are a direct result of "options" that I have been offered over years.The JD provided by the consultant stated £70k. As someone mentioned above - you come across as a little naive, there is whole world of really talented, incredibly professional candidates out there - I've just hired someone much younger than you on a six fig base these are the other candidates being seen by your agent and potential employees.
Getting a job offer a little under £70k (plus options) for a job that was advertised at £70k (perhaps up to) and then being miffed - is a little petty.
The brutal reality could be the client simple didn't think you were worth the £70k - you might be - but in this case the only opinion that matters is the clients.

From which you are being made redundant according to other posts you have made,so something ain't working at that company, I hate to say it but you do come across as arrogant and full of yourself on here, maybe you are different in real life, but you need to learn that what people say at interview is sometimes flannel and platitudes, you turned their offer down and wonder why they have re-advertised, seriously?Having worked both sides of the table in recruitment the answer seems obvious. You said no so ultimately there is nobody to fill the job. One route is negotiate with you the other is to have a back up plan to ensure there are other suitable candidates. They don't have to be mutually exclusive and in fact almost never are.

My role is no longer becoming redundant, well not until later in the year. The company wants to tie me in for 3 months with an exit bonus. I guess I am in a better position now then I was at the start of the year.
