Hi, centre brake light is out on my 2010 A6 Avant. Looks like an absolute mission to change it by taking boot lining out etc. Please tell me there's an easier way ??

I can see you have not had a huge response to this. In my experience I replaced mine around Oct last year on an 09 plate (C6) so not sure if yours is the same model. Despite the scare stories I paid £40.00 for a new unit & it took an hour to do without removing any trim. To do again probably 20 minutes tops.

Just prise the clips carefully out of the top of the tail gate trim & wedge the void open with a towel or cloth as far as it will comfortably stretch, this gives you good access to the light unit which will push out after pulling off the cable connector first. Don't lose the clips. Plug in new unit to test first and refit being careful with clips not falling into the tailgate void. I did put a tad of sealant around mine to firmly hold in place and waterproof better than original. Job done £40.00 audi quote £300.....

They need the solder pads redoing inside the light unit, not enough solder.

Need to do mine.

They're fiddly to get out, but not a massive job.
