Audi A4 Cabriolet 2003 Dashboard fault ?

Can anyone shed some light on this one please ?
Bear in mind the battery is good.
When I started the car the revcounter needle dropped to zero and rattled about down there and four warning lights were flashing intermittently ( key/car symbol,ABS, handbrake, Engine mgt lamp).
The engine runs / ticks over fine so the revs do not drop with the needle.
When I now start the car the date/time is forgotten and there is a rattle sound from behind the dash.
The warning lamps don't flash as before and the needle sits at tickover.
Its so weird my obvious thought it was battery, but I have just reconde it with my CTek mxs 5.0 so it is good.
Thoughts would be really appreciated
