steering rack - oil or grease?
Discussion
Quotes: 'lightly coat the rack with a semi-fluid grease' 'coat the pinion and bearing with grease' 'refit the pinion cover after filling with semi-fluid grease'.
Quite what qualifies as a 'semi-fluid' grease is not specified!!!!
Those where quotes from Ford manual while the S has a Vauxhall based rack but I would be very surprised if they were different. The only Vauxhall reference I can lay my hands on refers to rack and pinion requiring 'steering grease'!
I am pretty sure I used Castrol LM, but then it is a fall back for me for parts which dont get hot.

£60 for 12.5kg is MUCH cheaper than £10.99 + £2.99 p+p for 500gm tub
how many would buy at £5 for 500gm in a plastic bag delivered to a meet
My maths isn't brilliant but a 12.5 Kilo tub (allowing for a little loss) should make twenty four 500g tubs?how many would buy at £5 for 500gm in a plastic bag delivered to a meet
£60 divide 24 = £2.50, add on 50p for some proper tubs (bags would be terribly messy) and I'm in at £3

Just need 23 others now !
