Musician Pete Doherty has been given a one-off change to his bail curfew to allow him to play a gig.

...

The judge said Mr Doherty could stay out two hours past his 2200 GMT curfew on Tuesday for the Brixton Academy gig.

...

He agreed to allow him to perform at the concert on condition that requests for changes to his bail conditions were "not too regular an occurrence".

So all those people who have been banned for speeding can drive to suit their prior engagements so long as they don't "do it to often" then? Thought not.

Shouldn't be one rule for one and another for others.

Unless a charity gig, he should not have been granted this.

He hasn't actually been convicted of anything though, as opposed to a motorist already banned. I don't really see the problem with this, I'm sure if you worked nights in a factory they would let you do your job whilst on bail.

Perhaps the gutter press should leave him alone....

As I said, why punish the fans??? Especially since the only place he has been convicted is in your imagination.....

Do you know why he was arrested though?

His biographer was about to sell photos of him jacking up to the tabloid media.

He asked where his cut was the bloke got arsey and Pete lumped him one.

Where the extortion charge has come from I dont know.

Being a smack head and a tremendously talented one at that he will be societies sacrificial lamb I imagine and thats going to be a very sad thing for British music...

I think you will find that unless he is in jail you cannot stop the man from making a living. Similar conditions would apply to anyone who can only make a living at night. For the same reasons you cannot take a tradesmans tools if you make him bankrupt.

Important musician aye. From what I read he is just another loser who will probably kill himself or be thrown in jail.

"Important Musician". Surely a contradiction in terms.

When will the World realise that the mere fact someone can strum a few tunes together does not in fact constitute a cure for cancer or provide an answer to Cold fusion.

As for being a victim of drugs. FFS. Did anyone hold him down as they injected a needle in his arm ? Thought not. Self inflicted numpty who will hopefully OD himself oneday and remove his DNA from the gene pool.

Don't care for the media circus surrounding the guy, but he's written some cracking songs, so I hope he stays clean and concentrates on the music, personally.

I find the concept of being a tremendously talented smack head intriguing. The more so, that some people appear to think this benefits society.
