snow numpties this morning
Discussion
in 40 miles of motorway (blizzard conditions for about 10 miles of it), I came across only 2 numpties.
Numpty 1.
White van hammering down the offside lane (which was covered in snow as noone had driven down it) . Flew past me, I was in the middle lane trying to avoid the lorry spray at about 55 or 60 MPH.
The back of the van had some sort of reflective livery on it. What a prat.
Numpty 2.
Mondeo driver RIGHT up my a*s* again in lane 2, desperate to overtake. Kept venturing into lane 3 but kept bottling it.
I finally pulled over to lane 1 to let him blast past.
Neither got far. The unexpected standing traffic 1 mile down the road eliminated all the progress they had made.
And isn't the sun bright bouncing off the snowy ground and lorry spray!
Nice and steady, and keep a safety cell round you. In as much as you can with mr. tailgate!

arrgggg
york was a complete gridlock thanks to various idiots.
my found my faviorite snow numptie (great insult!) down a back road. the road had been gritted and had just a little bit of slush on it.
this guy was driving along at 15mph with a yellow flashing light on the roof of his car. his face was pressed up against the screen with a look of absolute terror on it! at least he had the decency to advetise the fact he was a tit
the only car i saw in a ditch was a bmw!!

I covered about 310 miles today, Whitby - Leeds - Grantham - Leeds - Whitby and I reckon most folk were doing OK. The long hill down into 'Eau Rouge' on the A169 was a 1st/2nd gear descent due to a snowy surface this morning, but south of Pickering the roads were mostly just wet with a bit of slush.
There was one very nervous bod in a Jaguar X-Type* heading for York this morning on the A64 just west of the Little Chef. He was driving at 25 mph and leading a long queue and I was third in line behind him. The road was a single carriageway section with a bit of snow on the centre-line and a thin line of slush in the middle of each lane, but the rest of the surface was merely wet. Fortunately there was a gap in the oncoming traffic so I managed to get past the two in front without too much delay, and then 65 mph proved to be a perfectly satisfactory pace based on my view of the conditions.
I know it is important to use sufficient caution, but it rather looks as if some people are very uncertain about judging the conditions.
Take care folks, apparently there's more snow to come in the next few days, and I've got two trips to Glasgow to do on Tuesday and Wednesday, but I'm sure it'll be OK.
Best wishes all,
Dave.
* I hope nobody asks him to take a ski up a snowy hillside for them.

What a fantastic name for that bit of road! I can tell just what you mean!
It was actually another PHer who gave it that name, but it seemed appropriate so I've stuck with it.
We'd better not emulate Jacques Villeneuve though. He went off in a big way two successive years at the real Eau Rouge at Spa in Belgium, first in the Williams and then he had an almost identical shunt the following year in the BAR. No damage to Jacques in either case fortunately.
Best wishes all,
Dave.
