Gumtree panel adverts never link to featured listing

[Deisel Weisel]

You visit Gumtree searching for cars for sale, then go to a completely different site, and inevitably that sites panel adverts will show Gumtree listings, because of trickery using your IP and cookies etc. Usually featuring the type of items/cars you were searching for on Gumtree. But try clicking on those panel adds, and you never go to the featured listing, just an unrelated page of cars for sale. Very frustrating. Been that way for months if not years. It’s surely not rocket science to get it linked to the correct listing. What is Gumtree playing at?

I sell lots of stuff on gumtree, I see stuff I sold a year ago floating around as you describe

I guess it just to get you on their site

Apparently it's owned by Ebay who do the same thing on there. I get emails from them that say '1 new matche today!', in the side panel on Ebay it says 'of similar interest' and has a pic of something which expired 6 months ago. They have even started telling me (again in the sidebar) that I recently won something which I never did too.
