Just wondering what a reasonable life expectancy is? I purchased a Krups EA9000 about two years ago, it has done about 5000 cycles, failed last year and was returned for repair, failed after about 100 cycles, returned for repair, now failed after another 20 cycles.

Each repair costs £120, I know nothing lasts for ever but for a £1000 machine I am underwhelmed! Or should I assume a two year life is to be expected?

I've had my cheapo Delonghi for just over five years. If it breaks it's going in the bin. I think it knows this...

That's less than seven cups a day on average, it's quite a lot but I wouldn't call it dogs abuse, sounds like you've been mugged off with a crap product to me. We paid a fifth of that for a De Longhi some time in 2011 - it ended up in her works office after we moved (apparently it didn't suit the kitchen rolleyes) and gets used quite a lot by the staff there and it hasn't missed a beat.

We've had a Gaggia Brera for about five years now. Never missed a beat.

I wouldn't say 7 cups a day is a lot, another DeLonghi user here. If it breaks would probably bin it & buy another.

You should've bought the Krupp K5 instead, bit harder to get hold of and the coffee isn't quite as good but a lot more reliable providing you have the upgraded Tiefzug 7 mm version smile

Another happy with the poundland delonghi here, several years at making several+ cups a day.

Mind, have no respect for/interest in krups after they wanted to charge me £14 years ago for a (10p in the RS catalogue) thermal fuse on an old drip machine... and wouldn't tell me the rating to source elsewhere either.
