Google paid search changes

I notice Google are rolling out removal of side bar ads on desktop searches. Anyone have any feelings how this will affect their CPCs?

Seems they've shifted from 3 at the top to 4 now - with none on the RH side.

All the talk at the minute is how its a standardisation to be in line with how ads appear on mobile search.

I imagine there will be more of a premium/competition to make sure you're in the top 2/3 positions, rather than stuck right at the bottom of the page.
