Help with non starter

Hi all,

Car hasn't been run since before the winter due to the crap weather. I went to see if it would start today after charging up the battery, car fires runs for a one ortwo seconds then dies, then it just turns over and doesnt fire. Pulled plugs, a bit wet but not dripping. Dried them off and cleaned them, same thing. Checked for spark on one of the cylinders and there's one there. I noticed though, that i couldn't hear the fuel pump priming. A new immobiliser was put on it last year.

Plugged in Rover Gauge and pushed the run fuel pump once facility, no priming noise, but there is power at the pump. Ran the pump continuously facility with the pump disconnected, 12v there continuously. Reconnected the fuel pump, ran the pump continuously through rover gauge and there is no buzzing noise from the pump, in over twenty years of TVR ownership the pumps have all sounded like a hive of bees, but I can hear petrol passing through the fuel pipes, which I dont think I should. So, i reckon my fuel pump is shot, and although it runs, it's not getting the fuel up to pressure and to the cylinders,

Any thoughts appreciated, cheers,

All I can say is that I would draw the same conclusion. Pump is turning but is not able to produce sufficient pressure

The pump works by throwing some plastic blades out of grooves in a shaft so they rub against the pump housing. If they become bunged up due to not being used they stay in the groove and don't touch the outside of the pump body hence they sound like they are working but do not produce enough pressure.
