Picked up a 991 PDC CS (2012) from a porsche dealer 2 weeks ago. So far car great then yesterday started developing engine trouble:

- In low revs feels like it will stall.
- After a while started to get Engine Control Fault / PSM Warnings on dashboard.
- Restarting the car same errors appear and the engine sounds like its struggling.

Googling around others seem to have had problems with similar issues but solutions vary a lot.

Obviously will call dealer tomorrow first thing but any insights from the community here welcomed. Really hoping its not a dud engine!

Might be a flat battery.

Does sound electrical so I wouldn't worry about a 'dud engine'

drove car for 2 hours before so do not think its battery, also if just electrical why is the engine struggling for power.

Ensure the battery is approved, believe these are chipped and can cause all sorts of problems if not (and will affect warranty).

my money would be on the coil packs

had exactly the same symptoms / warnings on my Panamera 4s, and it was the coil packs.
One day, Porsche will work out that the chocolate ones they use don't last...

Appears to be a fairly common problem, and not related to specific models

Thanks - does anyone know if checking coil packs is on the checklist for when they sell an approved used porsche? Or better still does someone have the checklist?

Thanks - getting it recovered now, although they are going to send technician first to see if they can fix. Seriously hope they dont just reset the warnings and leave!

I take that to mean the RAC guy will turn up and pronounce it broken. Then they send another guy to recover it.

Hi I had a similar problem sometime back and it was found to be a valve lift solenoid that had failed. Mine was fixed under warranty
