8.30 start, 1 hour journey, Sunday morning, no traffic. When everything comes together, you can choose your speed (up to the speed limit posted), pick your line, take the whole road and get there in 43 minutes. That is why we bought these cars.

I don't have a "drive to work", but I do have a favourite driving - fun route, 70km , fairly fast flowing A & B roads, some decent straights , few nice twisty bits, and plenty of overtaking opportunities. I am either "at home" for periods of time, so take my machine out for a Hoolie every 4 days or so, or, gone for weeks frown

Made the mistake of heading out yesterday for a thrash. . . . in Spain, Saturday drivers are worse than Sunday drivers, everyone is heading to shopping centres or whatever & paying very little attention to others, or indeed to making progress, at least I reminded myself how well it overtakes in even very short gaps.

Looked out around 13:00 today, no-one around, thought "what the Hell" let's make up for yesterday . . . glad I did. Perfect conditions (well +20c is just a little slower than yesterdays 13c unfortunately ) & I reminded myself (as I do regularly ) why I bought, and why I intend to keep, this wondrous machine. Mine has been 9e'd so a bit more than standard, and I could not imagine what I could replace it with that is even half affordable . . . so, I won't. Enjoy yours, and, if you don't already have one, fit a decent exhaust, which as well as sounding awesome when "on it" also makes pottering around more of an "event". . . I can recommend the 9e switchable. Enjoy driving

Which 'e' package did you go for? I've recently spoken with Ken so will get mine up to him in the next few weeks...........

Took mine out for a run on Saturday afternoon.

I'd had a decent thrash on the mountain bike in the morning, to get all the excess adrenaline and silliness out of the system, while Mrs Digga was out for a cross country run with a friend, so having a quiet drink (non-alcoholic for me) at a nice country pub seemed like a pleasant way to relax. The pub in question being situated in another village and at the other end of some really nice, quiet, twisty roads.

Never really pushed hard (Mrs in passenger seat and the dog in the back) kept to the speed limits, but it was a truly enjoyable drive. A real event.

I have to admit to a few dry runs out of late too. Spoiled with many roads here
in Scotland, its the weather and road surface that's important up here. Anyway, was out today
having geometry checked and set for Summer, and was right on it a good few times
on dry sweeping roads, awesome machine, running superbly, and as other post rightly
states other than another 911T what else is there that will offer the same
level of experience? And for me not just any other Turbo will do, it has to be
the right one.

My car has had a mild 9E too, and having owned other mapped 6T cars I can state that
the right map is essential, don't be fooled that any map will work. Also having
become very used to anticipating the upped power (circa 460 - 480) the
standard car whilst still very exciting is not anywhere near as urgent, especially
in gear acceleration 3rd 4th and 5th. Also, the manual car will require a heavier duty
clutch (Sachs 890 nm) which supplied and fitted is circa £1500 from good indi..
This clutch is brilliant, a we bit quicker uptake, however very light pedal
as standard pedal with same inertia, and once its done it will put all the horses
down and will not need done ever again under normal use, an essential do it
and forget it upgrade that should be done at the start of any power hikes and not
the other way around. The Auto (Tip) I am led to believe will cope with up to 600
bhp possibly more and is popular with the big tuners as is one less thing to worry
about.

So its really a map, a clutch if its a manual, best to have forge DVs fitted and change
the panel filter. Once you have that set up the standard car will appear blunt for
ever more. I like the idea of the exhaust, however do not want to compromise on the
standard set up to readily, I like the quiet nature of the drive, maybe a switchable
one, but its dear..No Gundo hack sadly for the 6T.

Lucky devil. Gen 2 car with a flash and zorst is virtually quickest real world car out there. 918 a-b pace. Destroys everything in a very refined day to day package but can be monster whenever you flex your right toe.

When you say gen 2 I am assuming you are referring to a generation 2 7T?

Mine had been mapped when I bought it, unbeknownst to me - I eventually found a bill for EVOMSit. I know Sharkwerks in USA use the same maps, but I'm guessing either the execution or some subsequent nonsense had affected it, because it felt terrible.

Long story short, whilst other things were being sorted out by Sports & Classic, Mike took the car to get it re-done by Wayne at Chip Wizards. The map traces speak for themselves:

  • Lower (brown) trace was when 'flashed' back to the latest version of the 'standard' Porsche settings.
  • Middle (purple) trace, with stupid peaks and troughs was as the car came to me. Was also revving to 7,250 rpm.
  • Higher (blue) trace is after the master had done his work. Obviously it drives a whole lot better!

StuH,

Sorry, changed job (or more accurately started with same company after 4 mths sitting home ) so not on here this last few days.

I have stage 2 (9e38 I think they call it ) fitted with the option of larger throttle body/plenum on an x50 car.

This is basically map/switchable exhaust/gt2rs intercoolers/ dv's & actuators uprated / 5 Bar FPR (for the x50, not the 420hp turbo ) with the aforementioned TB/Plenum as an add on.

9e are in the process of offering a different air intake system too, as I understand, and this apparently has shown some very worthwhile gains.

I will one day (finances permitting) possibly go for 9e30 (hybrids/injectors) but, subsequent to taking my current one out for a decent thrash, I wonder if I really need to.

Of course, we never have enough power, but in most circumstances, this is more than fast enough & part of me wonders too if I will prefer the hybrid instantaneous boost from 2000rpm over the slightly "old school" K24 slow increase from 2500ish resulting in that "kick in the back" at 3000 . . . . would be nice to try a 9e30 (or something with similar hybrids ) first, but then again 650 hp versus 530-550 is always going to swing it in that wallet emptying direction I guess biglaugh
