Water in door switch...

There appears to be some water in the door switch under the mirror of my Chimaera. The effect is that it typically won't open if the car has stood for a while, but is fine if it has been running and is warm.

I'm reasonably confident it is water because it can be heard when pressing the switch, and the rubber became solid when it froze recently!

I've now got a copy of 'the bible' and have seen the instructions for removing the mirror. If I do this, will I be able to drain off any moisture to stop this happening?
