Van lease, New, Used, Who What Why When?
Discussion
I'm looking to get another Van, Transit connect type sized.
In the past I have tended to buy them around 3ish years old and sell them on after around 3. Kind of works OK.
This time I am thinking of leasing, less up front and more flexible.
However I have never leased anything before and away from the main dealers all the lease companies I have found seem to have unknown names and £5 logos, I'm sure some are great but how do I tell the good from the bad?
Also.
Is it possible to lease vans a couple of years old?
Is it possible to lease/rent for just a year?

There are all sorts of financing for vans new or old so you can effectively lease a used one. The brokers you speak of with their fiverr logos aren't the ones who make the paperwork for the deal so you needn't worry too much. Your deal would be with ALD, Lex, VWFS, etc. rather than a broker.
Have you considered pre-registered vans?
www.loadsofvans.com have a good selection, I've had 2 from them, as has a mate.
Leasing work vehicles worried me, so I got HP on mine.

I used http://www.vanarama.co.uk/ for my current L200, pre-registered and delivered 2 me from deciding with 2 weeks. Most options are available through them from 1- 5 years from memory.
Plenty of good advice up there, and the options are really open for yourself.
Not looking for business, but I sell Commercial Vehicles for a living. New/Nearly New/Used. Covering the spectrum. I would put a few points out there for you to consider.
Use of Vehicle - If you are a builder, or your vehicles get a heavy use, stray away from leasing and purchase the vans. I recommend this due to the way lease companies penalise damage. It can cost you a hell of a lot more in the long run.
If you do lease, opt for 2k more than youll do a year, make sure you have ply lining fitted (optionally, this is cheap to change at the end if you have ruined it), and be careful with your options.
Used - Well the world is your market. HP deals can be good, a lot of dealers will run around the 5-7% flat rate on HP finance. If you look at 24 months or less aged vehicles, there are 3% flat deals out there at some commercial guys. Can beat the banks at times.
If you have any queries or questions, about the vehicle, or buying ways, please feel free to PM me, happy to help PH'ers. Ive sold cars and vans to people on here, but advised many more.

Many different finance options available for you on vans.
Contract hire (operating lease) is available for brand new vehicles. At the end of the agreement you simply hand the vehicle back to the finance company and do something else. It's not available for used vehicles.
Finance lease - you are leasing a vehicle from the finance company. At the end of the agreement you sell the vehicle to a third party on behalf of the finance company (who then retain a portion of the sales proceeds) so you have some risk in the vehicle's future value. Available for new and used vehicles.
Hire purchase - you pay a deposit plus all VAT up front and then monthly payments over a period. At the end of the term, once the last payment is made, you own the vehicle outright. The VAT is fully reclaimable (assuming you are VAT registered.) Available for new and used vehicles.
I am a leasing broker - I have a deal that could interest and I'll email it across to you. Cheers, Richard
