Good to see the sideways moment out the pitlane you were talking about!

(I was the one in the orange focus)

Cheers for the passenger laps, awesome car.

I'll have a propper look at the vids at lunch, i pulled out of the pitlane about halfway through the afternoon session, and you upshifted just as you over took me then down shifted going into maggots & becketts. Bloody hell it sounded awsome. You then proceded to leave me as a very small dot in your mirrors down the straight............ Untill we got to the corners!

I was in the Blue BMW E36 328 with red stickers all over it:

Also sorry for the red flag just before lunch! boxedin

Blew an oil line off the oil rad and span off into the grass after dumping 7 liters of oil on track!

got it back on a low loader, all fixed and back out after lunch.

Ha! Excellent smile I think I've got you in the Lotus video (session 6) exactly as you described...I felt a bit bad nailing it past you on the back straight as you certainly had more than me in the bends but the Merc is such an angry car lol. Great fun though wasn't it? Glad you got the car sorted, saw it being lifted off the truck.

Right you are, good few vids there. No problem, got to use your car to its strengths.

Was good fun, well the afternoon was great, the morning was v slippery, i'm on hard track rubber, thats very temp dependant. I would be mid corner, battling understeer/oversteer and people were queing up to pass me, even the recovery trucks!

Soon as the tyres get a bit of heat in them, they come to life.

Very true. The Merc on the Conti's (in the morning) was plain dangerous, understeer (predictable) then light oversteer, over shooting on the braking etc etc. No confidence in the car in the wet unless I'm on an airfield!

Your car went very well, I think we may end up getting another track only car at some point. I was impressed the Merc did such a decent job overall to say it's a big heavy muscle car.

If you get any vids, would enjoy watching them smile

Had a great day even though I caused a red flag just after lunch by spinning out at maggots and beckets! Was pushing on and saw some faster cars coming up and thought I'd try pushing a bit more as the drying conditions were giving more grip. Then I span. Sure everyone drove past (black E46) thinking "what a c0ck". Thought the car was proper shagged above 50 but turns out once I got home and gave all the mud a wash out it was fine.

Someone on here in a white Exige gave me one hell of a passenger ride, if you're reading this: Many thank once again, it was REALLY appreciated. Coming from a bike perspective, it's nice to passenger in a car with go kart like performance, just insane.

Those Exige (especially that handy looking S2) weren't hanging around. I spotted the Caterfield spin off and hit the barrier but otherwise it was a pretty safe day smile

Shame there was a prang, always a worry when the recovery wagon goes out. Was still a great day even though it started out damp and cold. Useful really as we all start slow and build speed as grip improves.

The cherry was a pax lap in the fire spitting AMG, cheers Mark!
(Impressive noise and power!)

Really glad you could make it at such short notice...best session was tailing the Lotus, only time you really get a sense of the speed in the video. Did you get any good footage? No worries on the passenger lap smile

Thanks, was please with the afternoon running, 1st time i've driven it since last september so loved it! Big heavy powerful cars usually get through there brakes, how did the merc stand up?

My 1st few track days were in my Z4 but it was to nice to risk anything going wrong, so spent £700 on a E36 328 for trackdays only, years and many ££££ later i'm just about to start my 4th season racing, to say it gets hold of you is an understatement!

And no chance on the videos! I have one vid of the whole day which was my lesson, and I sound like a nob chatting crap to the instructor about racing lol! That and I'll give away all my secret racing lines that will hopefully help me win my 1st race this season back at SStone GP.

I used to have two cars, one for fun but found my fun was limited to the 6-7 times a year I got on track. I made the decision last August to find 'one car to rule them all' and the AMG was my best effort smile It's not a track car and my old Clio would destroy it but for its size I was very impressed (a lot down to the Cup rubber).

Hopefully using the big Merc for track doesn't prove ruinous for a year or two. Pads and tyres held up well but I'm not heavy with the brakes. New pads all round are 750 plus fitting (don't spanner anymore either)...ouch.

Did you do any timing on the day? I use Racechrono and just leave it running...managed to go from over 5 minutes (gay) to 2.35 (less gay).

Roll on April for Goodwood and then July for the Ring.

Those Clio's are quick little cars, some of those were going well! Although the orange one, was 1st out behind the pace car in the morning i was second, and they spun on lap 2 behind the pace car, made me giggle!

Didn't run any timing equipment, i'm going to have a watch through the video i took and time a few laps off that.

The vid I took was rather brief as my gear linkage went south quite quick into the session. I only caught a glimpse of you screaming off into the distance then I had to pull in.
Plus, trying to upload 2.5gb (edited down from 7gb) of GoPro appears to want to take 10 hours! F**k that.
I still have it and could stick it on a stick if you want?

I will re edit and try to upload again.

I just set mine to 720p 30fps...no need for 60fps or 1080p. Fancy joining us at Goodwood in mid April?
