This appears to be a common problem but despite researching it on PH and a thorough check over I've not found a solution. My right hand indicator cancelling just fine but my left one just stays on until I cancel it manually. I've checked the cancellation disc and all appears well, it is centered as it should be, I've also disconnected and checked all the ribbon cable between the disc sensor and the control box. I've had the control box in bits and all looks good. Anyone got any ideas, or is it a new control box? If it is then I'll probably not bother as the £50 will be better spent on more needy areas. Ideas welcome, thanks

The pickups are fed from a common 5v supply from the control (which rules out control), so if one side is working then the signal is either not being returned, (cable issue, but you said these are ok) or one of the pickups/leds have failed. Both easy to fault find with a little bit of time and a multimeter.

Just double check your cables first as this would be my initial thoughts, a slight pinch can easily break a line. also, check the pickups and LEDs are definitely in line.

Just tested them using the set-up procedure in the workshop manual and it appears that one sensor is not working. Is this likely to be a failed LED then, can you replace them?

Yes, very easy with a bit of general soldering, can find similar LEDs from your favorite electronics store, nothing special at all.

To note, it may be the pickup, can't think what they are off the top of my head but either way its not a special part.

if you REALLY get in a jam, post it to me and I can fix it, only take me a few minutes and have the parts in the lab!

Thanks that's a very generous offer, I'll do a few more check on it and see if i can see whether its the LED or sensor, if its the LED I should have no problems with replacing that. If its the sensor then I may struggle unless I can find the replacement part. I'll come back to you if I get stuck. Thanks again.

As you will have seen from the workshop manual there are two combined LED/Sensor units on the PCB attached to the steering column. I had the same symptoms as you which turned out to be the metal disc being bent, destroying one of the units.

I tried to find the correct chip to replace the damaged one, but there were no numbers on them! Someone had tried to bodge it previously (lots of tacked on wires) so in the end I sent it to Paul Smith www.pselectronicsolutions.co.uk who turned it around within a week.

Thanks, I think i'll need them as I've checked both LED & Sensors and they appear fine on the multi-meter so I think it must be something in the control box. I'll give them a call and see what they can do for me.
