What XC/AM forks??

Have just found out my 2012 Fox Floats are fubar. Stantions are worn, innards are gunk, seals are shot, time for a change. But to what? Its been about 5-6 years since I last bought forks, and those were a set of Revelations with 140mm travel. Fitted them to my old 575, replacing an old set of Floats. I thought the Revelations were at least the equal of the Floats in terms of performance and were just as easy to set-and-forget.

Is this still the case? What else might be out there? Anyone else moved from Fox to something different?

Bike is a Yeti 5. Looking for 140-160mm travel, tapered head, 26" wheel. Main use is XC/AM.

Have thought about whether its worth putting new forks on a 4 year old bike but seeing as the bike's still going fine, albeit a little dented, and that I don't have a few thousand $$ lying around for a new bike, I'm happy to spend $5-600 on forks. Would consider a decent secondhand set of something nice too.

Yari seem just as good as Pikes and fair bit cheaper, both are much more plush than Fox Floats - I have all three although the Fox 34 floats went to Mojo for service and fit4 upgrade today, £185 if you are happy with the Fox fork that's the cheaper option unless sanctions really are stuffed.

I have Pikes on my FS bike - they are great, had Float 32's on my HT but just sold them - TBH though at my level/skill of riding I probably wouldn't be able to tell you how much better one fork is to another but I like having the Pikes and I'm currently looking at a new HT and will go for them on that probably.

RS forks are better for servicing from what I understand.

There must be some good deals around for 26" forks these days.

Running Fox34's at 140m travel, great fork, got them very reasonable priced as an ex-demo fork from mojo. They were listed as 150mm but they shortened the travel before they posted them out for a very reasonable £10 extra.

Talking to mojo this morning I ended up opting for the team upgrade which effectively bar the kashmire coating turns the fork into the latest team version with high and low speed compression etc £220, that's not bad to get more or less a £600 fork.

I had 160mm rock shox revelations on my BFe and they were brilliant once I had them properly set up. I'd recommend them to anyone wanting big travel forks with good damping

If your going to be fitting big travel forks, buy 650b ones! That way you future proof your forks, and the tiny extra axle to crown height (about 7 to 9mm) is un-noticable. It also means you can run a nice big 2.3 26" tyre and a decent front mud guard without clearance issues!

I've run a 650b 160mm pike on my Zesty for 2.5 years now without any issues.

Thought about this but figured the next bike will come with forks, or I'll get some to fit at that time. And 650s seem to be a bit more money than 26" at the mo.

Might have found a nice set of 2014 Pikes - I've no experience of them, so good to hear someone likes them!

Having said that, CRC have 2014 Float 32s for $390 delivered. Come with 120mm travel, but that can be changed! That's not a bad price for a new set of forks...
