Apologies if this has already been posted.

I've just seen teams installing new Gatsos on both north and southbound M1 under junction 42 (the M62) in West Yorks. I'm not sure if there are any roadworks planned, for which these might operate, or if they are to be a permanent fixture. Suffice to say this is a very busy stretch with much merging and lane changing going on. I fail to accept the need to further distract drivers when it's busy, well, at any time, come to think of it.

Hope this is useful info for PHers.

I've seen a few bad accidents on this stretch, most recent last week with an ambulance in attendance. Wonder if thats prompted it...?

p.s. what are the rules on siting cameras on motorways - is it the same as for other roads?

Thanks for the heads up... It is a busy junction, as you say, and quite awkward where it all merges. I'll keep an eye out for them.

Ok, so there's a temporary 50 limit for roadworks. Lane 3 is closed (bridge testing / strengthening?) and all lanes nudge over to use lanes 1 and 2 plus the shoulder. Amazing how quickly they get it all up and running (presuming they are live)! Scary!!

oops, sorry pardon - started a similar thread before I had read the rest of SP&L. The roadworks are for Bridge strengthening and are due to last 5 weeks.
