For some completely unknown reason I recently started humming this

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_bL0hFyslg

Part of the soundtrack to my teenage drug experimentation years.

But in particular the bit of music at the start which I think is based on some classical music.

It's repeated (and clearer) at 1:45.

As an added bonus you can watch the gurning pill poppers gettin mental in the house in between.

I think it's based on some classical music. Does anybody know what it is?

I don't know why I even listened, given that I know virtually nothing about classical music. But it is a bit reminiscent of the Verve's "Bitter Sweet Symphony". In terms of samples: http://www.whosampled.com/Altern-8/Activ-8/

ETA - having listened to another so-called sample on that site, I'm not sure it's much good.

Great track! Nostalgia..... Can I go back? Just for a day.....

I don't think it is based on any classical piece TBH, I think it's just a made up riff on a 'strings' patch on some synth or other. Any similarity surely unintentional.
