Exhaust Fabricators for Quiet system
Discussion
Hi,
Can anyone recommend an exhaust place, that could make me a system for my E36 M3 S54 that is very quiet.
I want something light, but I want it to be as quiet or near to as standard.
My local track is Thruxton which has a 90db noise limit, so it needs to be able to pass that. I have a CSL type airbox, so have enough noise to keep me happy
I'm happy to travel if need be.
Any pointers in the right direction would be great.

That is low! My standard E92 is 93dB Can anyone recommend an exhaust place, that could make me a system for my E36 M3 S54 that is very quiet.

If you don't mind a drive over to Cardiff, these guys will fabricate whatever you want. http://www.pro-speedexhausts.com/
If you speak with Charlie and tell him exactly what you need, he will be able to advise you and will also usually provide a courtesy car while your's is being worked on.
I have no affiliation with this company other than to be very happy with the work they have done for me on previous occasions.

I've used Pro-speed before and liked their work, but have since been using RaceWork Developments over in Litchfield. Dean at RWD is a superb fabricator and has been involved with some special builds. Very high quality work!

Is that 90db static ( which is incredibly low and may be unattainable ) or 90Db drive by (which sounds more likely) if so what is the car on drive by currently ie what do you have to lower by?
Drive by at MSV tracks are normally around 10-14 DB lower than static measured at 3/4 max revs at correct distance and 45 degree angle etc.
Also you mention the induction noise this can be a big factor on some cars as it contributes significantly to drive by noise, we saw a Caterham that had issues but after redesigning and making a proper airbox which lost no power but it reduced drive by by 8 Db.

Thruxton is 90db Static.
I just passed with my Golf when I went a few years ago, 3 box 2.25" system on ITB`s. My sons E36 328i trackcar, with cat still in the system is always well under 90db static.
Do you still have the Cat`s fitted ? They seem to remove quite a bit of noise. I can`t offer a recommendation of where to go I`m afraid.
