Hi everybody, replacing the suspension on 94 400, normal road use was thinking of Bilstein shocks and springs with poly bushes what you think open to sugestions ?

Did all of this a few months ago, after a massive amount of deliberation, I went with the mk4 Bilsteins, with new springs all round.
This chap is well known on the forum, and was way cheaper then any other supplier I could find, including fully assembling the dampers and springs from me.
Great service, and he really knows his stuff.

As I was replacing the suspension arms too, I went with poly-bushes, and am very pleased with the result.
The suspension is so compliant, but virtually bush no flex. The ride is comfortable, even with SP12's and low profile tyres. (One of my main concerns with damper choice being too harsh).
The mk4 units also have 3 height adjustments too, I am running the highest setting at the rear, and lowest at the front. (I was advised to run the fronts in the middle setting for stock wheels, but with the SP12's arch to tyre gap looked a bit larger that the rear, so I had the front lowered to the bottom setting, and all looks great.)
This gives enough height that road humps are no problem, and the wheel the arch gap is better than stock.

I don't have any pics of the car with this setup I'm afraid, but could be getting he car back in the next few weeks to take any photo's

I did exactly the same, went for Mk4 Bilsteins, however, I stayed with the Metalastic bushes, the mileage was 36k and nothing wrong with the originals, but after the change, the difference is night and day.

I have a set of Bilsteins rebuilt to the latest spec via Blackdown ready to be fitted next week.
Night and day sounds good
