Hi guys, I did try and get this off the ground last year but started planning it a bit late, appreciate also we now have 2 trips to wales as well.
my thoughts were a saturday trip over for lunch, nice drive in the afternoon, and an overnight stay followed by a run out on sunday morning taking in a couple of laps of the old Camay road circuit, lunch and then trip home.
Only thing that requires some planning is the Chateau gets a lot of its income from functions and only has I think 10 rooms so may limit numbers unless we stay in another hotel.

current thinking

Saturday
Meet Eurotunnel for crossing at 8am
Drive along coast road to Le Touquet for lunch with coffee stop
Drive across country to this chateau for overnight stay which although basic offers some good food, and safe parking, owner is a petrolhead http://www.chateaudelamotte.fr/

Sunday
Ride out to somewhere but incorporating the old road circuit of Chimay
http://www.racingcircuits.info/europe/belgium/chim...
Lunch
Eurotunnel return around 4pm

Ok guys so we probably have enough interest to do something here.
As said previously it will depend on availability so I will contact the chateau with the view of May-June-July time and ask what they have free.

Not being in the McLaren club I will not join this trip but was wondering about that region in France. Is there any decent roads around there ? I had never really short listed it as a driving destination but might be wrong ?!)

Does the hotel have another website. It only uses flash and I can't see it on iPad. Or maybe just indicate where it's located so I can look up on google maps. Tried looking up chateau de la motte and there are loads of them!

Thanks Paul. I've also now got a nice advert to quickly link me to the hotel thanks to cookies! All reviews point to food being very good

Guys, just spoken earlier this evening to the chateau and currently they can do the following dates

May 14 and 21
June 18
July 9

It's not the Ritz but the cars are safe and the food excellent, happy to go elsewhere if anyone knows of another venue.

None of those dates clash with the other McLaren events

Let me know your preferred date and I guess we will go with the majority.

Anywhere other than the UK is pretty good smile
In seriousness the coast road from Calais to boulogne is very good and well worth doing, then on to Le Touquet is ok.
The route across country from Le Touquet to the chateau is pretty good as well, and the roads around the old circuit.
As long as you respect the villages regards speed the open countryside they don't seem fussed about.

Hi Paul, I've held off replying up to now as I'm off to watch the Spanish GP in May and June date is Le Mans-
If you chaps decide on July date ,I'd certainly be up for joining the entourage ...

I think we should avoid the June date if possible

a) as said it is Le Mans weekend and crossings will be busy and

b) although we will not be on main routes plod will be out in force.

How does the July date suit everyone ?
