We've outgrown our current eCommerce system which is a heavily modified version of Opencart.

Interested in other people's experiences with moving on from Opencart specifically or just moving on to a more scalable, flexible solution.

We've got in-house developers working on our x6 eCommerce sites and we build bespoke eCommerce sites for external clients as well, so we've got the expertise to build a custom solution but interested in using software/frameworks to give ourselves a head start.

Apart from the standard eCommerce functions some of our main requirements are:

Advanced delivery options - we have multiple suppliers in multiple locations all with different delivery charges
We need to control individual delivery charges at the product level
Delivery prices automatically displayed in the basket without entering postcode or any location details
1-2 step checkout
Postcode Anywhere integration
Possibly a multistore option
Google merchant feed export
Import/export for all data
SagePay Inframe integration
Opencart migration tools

Magento seems to cover most of these and has the flexibility to be configured to our needs, any other solutions that anyone would recommend?

Magneto would be my instinctive first choice...
Particularly as you have coding skills in-house

Yeah, I would say Magento too. Reason being i done the same. Its a little bit more complex when you first look at it but stick with it and it all makes sense (kinda) in the end.

I use it with M2e to run multiple ebay stores and amazon store. Works great.

I would go for Magento too. The Zend framework it is built on can be a real PITA the develop for, especially if you don't know what you're doing. But when you start out-growing the entry-level ecommerce packages then there really isn't much else unless you wish to spend a small fortune.

Maybe looking at getting your devs on a Magento development course though if they have no experience, because there really is a right and wrong way to do things with Mage.

I'd recommend WooCommerce on Wordpress.

There'll be plenty of plugins available to do what you need and developing for WooCommerce is a million times easier than Magento.

Megento is great but can be overkill unless you're doing some seriously heavy lifting - WooCommerce can handle a lot thrown at it.

Have you got any experience of setting up multiple stores through one install of WooCommerce? Just wondering what it's like compared to Magento as I've done it with Mage but never with Woo.

Yea, with a multisite network in Wordpress we're running 3 shops from the one install (1 high traffic the other will gradually get to that level too). Seems to be going well so far! I've never used Magento with multiple stores though so can't really comment on how it's different smile
