Wondering if anyone has tried to fit seats from later cars into early DB9 or Vantage? I hate the look of the seats in my 05 DB9 and have a source for a pair removed from an 08 Vantage but concerned about making a go of it.. Could it be just a simple plug in and go operation? I know they should physically bolt right in..? Any of you fellas given this a try?

I preferred the seats in my MY05 DB9 to the ones that came later, especially as the later seats where more cushioned offering less headroom.
Is that right? Less headroom with newer seats? That would certainly change my plans as I'm 6'2 and have just enough headroom now. My original plan was to have my seats recovered with a custom design to spice it up a little bit.. Maybe a diamond, contrast stitching pattern etc. To match my custom headliner. I've even acquired the hides from Bridge of Weir already. Then I had this idea of just getting a newer style seat and working from there instead of using my OE seats as the "core".
Less headroom would definitely be a deal breaker though..

I just sat in a new style seat car and old style seat car just to make sure, and as per my thought, the headroom is pretty much the same, maybe a little difference only from cushion height. My original plan was to have my seats recovered with a custom design to spice it up a little bit.. The new seats have more planes of adjustment which helps angle the seat better which does help max headroom.
The old level seat controls were hardwired into the harness in a basic way (no control modules operating seat movement or heating), whereas the new level seats work via control modules. The different hall effect motors will not run hardwired. To retro fit in terms of mechanical fit presents no issue, and no issue also to power up control modules via harness, but, the body control module (CEM) will need a different config file to be compatible / talk to the new seat modules. A dealer would unlikely be able to acquire such a file as that config never existed in production - you would have to dispatch the CEM to a specialist indie who could code bespoke config files. I am aware of many cars that have had this exact retro fit.
Whilst we're on the seat subject, a pal of mine has a V8S with standard seats, however it hasn't got the memory option.
He gets the hump with his missus moving the seat and asked me yesterday whether it was possible to retrofit the memory option and whether or not it would be a stupid cost.
Any ideas anyone ?

It's a 14 plate so I assume a MY2015.
I'd bet it's just fitting the switches with the memory function control and then maybe a flash at the dealer.. Or maybe not even? Accessing the hardware isn't at all difficult.. I've done quite a bit of that and that portion of the job is pretty quick. Gassing Station | Aston Martin | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
