Hello

I have a little Ford Ka with a blown head gasket. Not worth a full repair but I bough some Steal Seal (http://www.steelseal.co.uk/) and happy to use this but I need to get engine running and warm so this liquid will flow around and hopefully work its magic.

My problem is getting the damn car started to get it warm, I think there is some water about the plugs as when I take them out to clean I can see water droplets. I tested all plugs and they spark when out, plenty fresh fuel at the rail and obv lots of air available.

Any tips on how to get running? Will a long tow and running can in 2nd or 3rd with ignition on maybe spark it into live or is this car dead as dead can be?

Thanks P

The head gasket's gone, and it won't start. Have you done a compression test?

engine no start is usually fuel or ignition

you've ruled out ignition. have you checked fuelling?

If the cylinders so damp the plugs are fouling back up with water after you've cleaned them it's gonna be too far gone for steel seal.

Sounds familiar..... paperbag

Definitely check how bad the compression is before going much further

It's good, but it does have it's limits!

You could change the head gasket on that engine in situ in about 4 hours. Cost of about £30 for a gasket.

Way too far gone for Steal Seal.
