Some Speedplay questions before I buy

Regular or light action - is it the same pedal with a different cleat?

Cromoly vs stainless spindles - is there a functional benefit or just shiny vs painted black?

After much persuasion by some riding buddies I'm going to give them a go as I need new pedals anyway but I want to make sure I get the right ones.

If your >50kg just get the regular ones and make sure you get the stainless ones as the axles on the other ones corrode horribly very quickly.

Just make sure you clean/lube the cleats regularly and grease the pedals via the grease port every month or so as they do require looking after.

I was aware of the maintenance, that's why I didn't try them earlier but as I approach my mid 30s I'm occasionally finding I have a sore knee or two after riding and don't want to aggravate it.

Interesting point on spindle corrosion, that makes sense I guess.

Do you know if the pedals themselves are different on the light action versions? I've seen them cheaper and fancy the walkable cleats anyway so it might make sense...

Can't help on light action vs normal, as I only have the latter, but those walkable cleats are so much better off the bike than their regular ones...

I bought some speedplay pedals as I'm also having problems with my knee. I've not used them in anger due to my knee problem but they're a PITA to break in. In the end I left them clipped in which seemed to help.

In hindsight I'd go for the light action pedals or look at an alternative.

As for covers, Keep on Kovers are meant to work well with the zeros.
