Hi,

This is may seem like a follow on question from a previous post about mk7 golf r values but I was wondering whether I could get some thoughts on whether folks see prices of mk7 gtis with pp and dcc dropping drastically. I think a lot of 2013 models are coming to the end of 36 month PCP deals and/or being traded in for golf r ?

Knocking around £16k trade for a 3-year old with average miles would be my expectation

I think they'll hold strong personally, doubt you'll get any massive bargains with that car.

The spec I am interested in is 5 door dsg with pp and dcc. Most of them are still in the 19-20 k range. I have heard that more cars come on to the market in march just before the reg change.

Or maybe I should just go for a stock mk6 gti, 2011 or 2012, and get a stage 1 tune done on it? Either way, I plan to keep the car for at least 3-4 years

You'd be better with a standard MK7 GTI than a mapped MK6. MQB moved the game on considerably.

Yeah def stick with the Mk7. They are coming down in price now, early teens is achievable for something with a few miles on the clock

23k '63 5 door with everything going through BCA in Edinburgh on Thursday; CAP is £18k and with that specification I imagine it will go over that.

They hold there value well and are probably going to be rarer than the R's you just don't see very many out and about.

Mines is 2 years old now still loving it, when I bought it 2 years ago I got 13k for a 59 plate Gti with no options but low miles of 15k.

Funny you should post this up as I only posted the other day that I'd been looking at MK7's with PP and Motorpoint are doing new ones at similar prices to early ones. As has been said they seem to be holding their values.

If you want a newish car they are no doubt great. The only thing is they are not UK spec cars, no Xenons, active cruise or full 3 year warranty. I looked at them and not quite the bargain I first thought, I think they may struggle in the 2nd hand market vs genuine Uk spec cars.

Thanks for that. That was my question in my post, but it wasn't mentioned that there was no ACC for example. Currently have a 1.4 TSI ACT and I'd suggest more than 50% of my 30k has been with ACC. It's not perfect but will make going for another car without it very difficult!

Agreed, I couldn't go back to not having ACC either!

That does seem very strong for its age, as my 15-plate GTD (5dr DSG) with 16k miles has about the same CAP value.

Interesting point, Patch. I have seen quite a few Rs on the road but the only GTIs I have seen are on the local dealer forecourts. In fact, I saw 3 Rs today, red, white and blue, in a span of about 10 minutes.

Is the multilink rear Sports suspension part of the standard spec for the GTI? If yes, has anyone had rattling problems with rear dampers?
Also has anyone had DSG related problems?

Yes, and yes. Mine went in, had the dampers replaced, problem was still there but not as pronounced. Thankfully my R doesn't have the same problem, but I know people who have.

Can't talk about the DSG but had two GTIs and both had the rear suspension problem. Even new shocks on one car had the same issue. Gave up in the end and moved the car on - a 3dr PP in silver which is still for sale three months on.

A guy I work with spent months trying to get to the bottom of noisy rear suspension and it ended up being a faulty exhaust mount! VW went to the lengths of fitting tiny microphone all over the car to try and identify the source of the noise.
