Best engine and transmission oils for 964
Discussion
Gentlemen. I remember an interesting thread regarding the best engine oil for a 964. Can't find it anywhere. In its absence, what is the best engine oil to run in a 964 - some track work. I run motul sport ester 5w 50 in my Metz engines but am aware that older aircooled engines may require a different formulae.
I also use Millers for my transmission in GT3's and intend to use this in my 964.
All advice appreciated

What's a Metz engine?
Anyway - depends how much track work? In what climate?
Hot climate and/or prolonged tracking I'd be tempted by a 50 weight oil, otherwise I believe it was designed for a 40 in our climate.
(You can have your own arguments/discussions on start-up weight)
If you change the oil far too often (like me) then mineral oil will perform just as well - obviously fully-synthetic will break down slower when stressed (so that's on a track day) but you'll probably change oil either just before or just after that? So again it depends how stressful your particular track-days are.
With the 964 you also are in the 'do I need an older formulation of oil' due to lower ZDDP levels (yawn) in the modern formulations of oil.
A few years back I decided to move to Mobil 2000 X1 as it is a very good 10W40 that is still manufactured to the older formulation, i.e. ACI SL/SJ with the higher ZDDP etc levels.

I used to use Motul 8100 X-cess 5W40 fully synthetic, but they 'upgraded' the formulation to an API SM a few years back which has less of the older-style lubricant elements (ZDDP).
Also I was starting to see some slight weeping with the 5W40 that has stopped with the 10W40, but your opinion may vary on that.
