Its with a heavy heart that I drove my beloved DB9 back to the dealer today. I finally gave into the inevitable; my kids are getting too big to fit the back seats and so what was a usable 2+2 had become a genuine 2 seater and therefore wasn't getting driven as much as it should have done.

It's been a 6 year love affair, I was still grinning every time I started it up (Quicksilver exhaust helped there!). I smiled every time I passed it on the driveway. I doubt I will ever own a better looking car

But time to move on.

Drive an 8 speed Rapide S, quicker, and virtually as nimble.

It is Sea Storm, it's kind of a very light blue bordering on silver

It's got a real punch when you put your foot down, you can feel the extra power vs the DB9. But incredibly civilised at motorway speed - 90mph is about 1900 revs in 8th (so I'm told your honour)

I'll be honest in saying it's not as pretty as the DB9. But for my circumstances far more useable

And lots of small improvements - little things like an integrated petrol cap, rather than the annoying lid that you take out on the old db9 (attached by a wire) that then chips and scratches your paint if you're not careful while filling up

Wonderful colour too - can't wait to see it at Burghley.

Well done Rob! smile

When it's time for me and the wife to settle down that's the car I'd get as my "practical" car. Having driven one I'm amazed how much space there is when you fold the two rear seats down. The V12 startup noise is awesome. The car sounds and feels nothing like a saloon. More a sports car with fours seats.

Beats all those boring Range Rovers out there... wink

Hope you have another 6 years enjoyment!

I have both a Range Rover and a V12 DBS. Gives me a few more options than a Rapide would - like carrying four passengers (I have 3 kids and a wife to ferry around) and taking my dog and guns onto the high moors over rough tracks. And, if I were to be honest, if I could only have one, it would be the Range Rover - such an immensely capable car.

Thankfully, I don't need to make that choice. wink

Don't get me wrong: my best friend has a Range and I was just driven in a very new one the other day. They are extremely impressive cars and like yourself people who own one swear by them. They do seem to fit all occasions

But living in London I see so many of them... something unique about an Aston. But like you said, you own both so you must be permanently happy... biggrin
