investing release equity whilst renting
Discussion
we are selling our house, and moving into rented. Should have approx £120-130k which I'd like to invest, perhaps for around 6 months until we can come out of the rental property, and at that point it needs to easily liquidated and with minimal or no penalty. What is the best way to invest this for a decent return with maybe moderate risk?
On that very short timescale I doubt you want any significant "risk". Just put it on deposit at the best rates you can find - and make sure you don't go over £75k (the government guarantee) with any one bank. But watch out, sometimes different names can actually be the same bank. this is easily answered by googling.

I think there's an exception for temporary high balances due to things like house sales for 6 months so you don't need to worry about the £75k for the first 6 months. As regards best rates available, check the Moneyfacts website.

There is indeed... I didn't know it myself but just Googled. Providing the deposit is from a qualifying transaction (which a property sale would be) then you would be covered up to £1m for 6 months by the looks of it.Gassing Station | Finance | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
