997 under carpet insulation foam
Discussion
Hello All
I Have had the door seals replaced on my 997 and the bottom of the doors have remained completely water free but I was still getting steamed up windows after driving but not as bad as previously.I assumed it was general dampness which would clear eventually as the weather improved.
Cleaning the car today I noticed the rear passenger side foot well was very wet and as I pressed more water was seeping up.
I removed the passenger seat and lifted the carpets attached to the undersurface of the carpet is high density foam almost like memory foam, this had absorbed and retained a huge amount of water approx half a litre.
I tried using a wet vac to suck up the water but this wasnt effecive against the foam and the only solution was to peel off the soaked foam as I diidnt want any water getting into the very close by underseat electrics.
I know the carpet is one piece and a complete pain to remove so I m going to let the carpet dry and replace the foam but I am sure this is not available on its own as it was integral to the carpet so will use some other high density foam and cut to shape.
Anyone else had this issue or can suggest suitable repair?
