Glass Scratch Repair?
Discussion
Hi Guys,
I noticed a few minor scratches on the window of the driver's side door on my 996tt (yet to work out how they got there!). No longer than a couple of inches in length though I can just feel them with the nail of my finger. Without trying to be too OCD about I would like to get them sorted.
I'm errring towards trying to polish them out myself though not sure if this is realistic. Anyone done something similar or is it best to get a pro to do it?
Thanks in advance!

Usual caveat applies - if you can feel them, they're too deep.
Glass can be polished using cerium oxide and a rayon pad but if the scratches are too deep then you will be needing to remove so much from that area that you will create a distortion in the glass.
Light surface marks can be removed with (relative) ease but I would urge severe caution in this case.

Many years ago, circa 2008, I used a crap ice scraper and put a huge long scratch right across the middle of my brand new a4. I got a guy out yo polish it out and claimed the cost back off my car windscreen cover minus excess. I didn't want a new screen as they mess up the trim half the time. I'll try and find their details if you want but they were Surrey based, not sure of your location. Check you don't have something in the door causing the damage before you repair or replace though

Thanks for the replies guys.
I had a professional detailer come to take a look at the car yesterday for a few other things I want to get sorted and he thought they were light enough I should be able to polish them out myself easy enough with the right kit, so I am going to give this a go.
