I drove a 991 4S and was very impressed - actually preferred it to the 2S.

Nice colour/spec, however, I think more buyers might prefer it with PDK

But a manual is a rare car
This one has the money spent to make it a drivers car more than luxury
Interesting to spend £15k on options to heighten the drive

In fairness, the 997 4S is rated above the 2S by journos. Haven't seen a write up of the newer cars to compare; would be interesting.

I certainly prefer the additional weight over the front and through the steering.

why is it a drivers car ? just because it has a manual ? what does than make a 991 GT3 , less of a drivers car ?

The issue for me as a driver car is the 991.1 steering it not that great and thus a drivers car it does not make for me, nor does any modern 991 let alone a 4WD one.

As always every one will have an opinion on what makes a nice drivers car for them, so to sum up drive the car, if you like it buy it, if you don't, don't.

If you are worried about resale more than the driving aspect, also don't buy it.

Christ there is no need to be so obstinate!

He didn't ask if YOU think its a drivers car and he didn't ask if he would like it, he was asking about ease of selling and the market for a manual.

...... and you wonder why people get annoyed with you rolleyes

why don't you just post your opinion of the car then and not have a go at me, the thread is now derailed

Is it a values thread or a drivers car thread or a have a go at me thread ?

is it ? 4S seem to stick around for ages over a 997 2S which are rare as hens teeth and imo the drivers choice.

I didn't mean to have a go at you and I apologise if you were offended by my post beerhippy

I have never driven a 991 4S so I can't comment on how it drives but right now there are so few manual 991's available that one with the power kit as well is like a unicorn!

but it's 7 speed !

I had a top end 991 4S with power kit for 1/2 a day, was fun for 2 hours then I was board with it. not a drivers car, but a great daily, but then as a rich mans daily you take a Turbo S ;-)

This is the spec

I hasten to add it's not my car

But normally NO ONE would spec a car with the power kit + ceramics + manual unless they wanted a different experience from PDK + sunroof + leather steering column

Is the manual 991 GTS 6 speed or 7 speed? I read a review by the getawayer on YT and he raved about the gearbox saying it felt great to use.

I don't know much about the 991 range i'm afraid, never really been interested in it. I know the earlier cars had the 7 speed gearbox but I thought it was changed to a 6 speed for the GTS.......what is the new 991R gearbox? 6 or 7?

they up the game on the GTS box so people say, it's still 7 speed though, but I have not driven a 991 GTS.

the 911R is a bespoke 6 speed short ratio item, and about time too :-)

I think it was the same with the 991 C4, the reviewers preferred the electric steering feel.

It's certainly a desirably spec'd car, and a C4S would appeal to a lot of buyers wanting the everyday versatility of a fast, sporting GT, but still feel the 'manual box' in this scenario will marginalise the appeal - and I like manuals.

What relevance does this have - we all know that a p/x is the easy option but seems a shame to have a nice spec car not be available to a private buyer at less than an OPC price
I like selling my cars outside the OPC network if I can

I would have thought the best way to sell that car is SOR with someone like JZM. 991 manuals are rare because a lot of people don't want them so an OPC might not be your best bet. I think it would be more saleable if it was a C2 personally as people that want a driver focuses car will more likely look for that. I certainly did when I bought my manual 997.

I agree, I would not take the car on, it's not a drivers car , it has the poor 7 speed box and its 4WD should have part ex it ;-)
