Hiya. After a year away from Aston, whatda you know but it looks like I'm coming back. I didn't think I would be but there we go !
I'm selling the 360 - I just don't use it and while it's so great to drive fast I just don't get the chance to do enough of that.
So it's going to be a DB9 I think. Preferably a manual sport pack and ideally with a Bamford Rose exhaust.
Having done a bit of reading, it seems that 06 MY onwards are much better and I got that feedback a lot but I don't have a list of the changes made anywhere (any help please?).
There is a nice looking car that would fit the bill at Super car rooms. Its a shade under 40k for 62k miles. I normally would not worry about miles on a modern car but we have residuals, and servicing to think about don't we?
What's the verdict from the experts around ?

Buy Grant's book etc etc etc
I think the big model change for the DB9 took place in Sept 08 (maybe minor changes in earlier years). That's when it got an extra 20bhp, suspension changes, glass key and updated dash. So if you can stretch a little beyond 40k, that might be worth looking into

I have ordered Greg's book already...
I get the point but there isn't much out there to fit the bill. I have found an 08 car with the sports pack but it's a touchtronic and is from an non-specialist dealer (and it 47K). There aren't many stick shifts about are there?
i thought I could get an 08MY manual with sports pack (with sensible miles on it) for under 45k GBP I would take it frankly.

Thanks.
That's quote right about the dead zone' from 08-09. Nobody bought anything nice which is sham because by 2010 so many cars were a little less analogue and a whole lot more responsibly digital. I have an S8 V10 as my other car and I would have like a 2010 model year but there are none around. So I have an 09 instead.
Any way I will teach high and low and see what I come up with!

Yes as you say, there are very few manual DB9s out there. Infact the one you mention is probably one of the only manuals on the market at the moment. There were a few revisions with the MY07 DB9 with different seats and a few other things. I think your budget of £40k should see you into a decent DB9, however if it must be a manual then your choice of cars will be cut massively.
Mileage is a consideration when buying, but it isn't the be all and end all, just one of many factors which is taken into account.

it doesn't HAVE to be a manual. I mean if there was a sport pack (full sport pack) Bamford Rose touchtronic out there then I would be very tempted. It's been a while since I drove the DB9. I drove an 07 model year car (which I was going to by when it was 2 years old). I remember saying to the dealer than it was lovely but not all that engaging. I fully appreciate that it's a GT and if I was driving it every day then I would want the TT but as a toy it needs to have an edge. I'd take a higher mileage DBS (auto or manual) in a heart beat for the right price (super car in my opinion) but the prices of those are rock solid. Also, on that subject, I would propose that Manual price will go quicker and higher. As you say, few were made and collectors prefer them. I could have had stick shifter 360 for about the same price as my F1 but I went for the driving experience of the super quick shift instead. Hmmm. I would have made a heck of a lot more money on a manual.
We could get into a debate all day about the benefits of either. I like an auto for every day. Why would you choose to drive ancient tech on a daily basis but for smile miles I prefer more engagement. But then I am a funny bird. I liked the robotised manual in my old V8V roadster. I lot of people didn't get on with those but I loved it.
