4.7 vantage too quiet
Discussion
Hi just purchased a 4.7 vantage after having a 4.3 and a db9 can't believe how quiet it is how can I make it sound preferably like a vantage s or better but don't want to spend a fortune would cats make a significant difference seen some quicksilver ones for £700 or am I wasting my money?
Thanks
Thanks
Seeing as bogie has stabbed us in the back......
The 4.7 has a number of exhaust options and the effect depends on which 4.7 year you have.
The early 4.7 has a standard manifold and one pair of cats directly after. The back box was redesigned and quieter.
Later 4.7 cars had primary cats in the manifolds and secondary cats directly after.
Changing cats on early 4.7 will make it louder. To some, too loud. On later cars with two sets of cats, it won't sound so antisocial. On those, it's often the case for a simple secondary cat delete pipe.
Don't forget that any messing with the primary cat (early or late) will cause emissions error lights unless a minor o2 sensor mod is popped in the ecu. That's why the later cars can have the secondary cat deleted without any issues.
Putting a 4.3 or v12 back box on will make it sound better too. Even bring back a bit of overrun pop and grumble.
Now, this is all in lieu of you having an attack of guilt and putting up some pics in accordance with the law.

Where can we get the back boxes? I suppose from Aston, but curious. My current car (SL55) has lots of overrun pop and grumble, which I love, so I would like my future 4.7 to have that too. However, I would also want to ensure no drone at 60+ cruising speeds...
I know of a couple of people who did cats then put them back on due to "too noisy"
the standard 4.3 with fuse out or switchable fuse, I find to be perfect for choice of noise level

Try Bridgemill motors. They are an Aston Indie and may have one, I know they have a full ceramic coated custom manifolds and CAT system there for a 4.7. They did have a 4.3 back box too.I know of a couple of people who did cats then put them back on due to "too noisy"

I installed an X-Pipe from Fabspeed and this modification marginally increased the sound but added measurable seat-of-the pants performance. I also did an ECU tune.

They cannot void your warranty for changing the exhaust, at lest in the US. The Magnuson-Moss Warranty Act, prevents them voiding your warranty. They can refuse to repair the exhaust, since it's not theirs. They could even argue that the clutch failure is not theirs, since the horsepower was increased beyond their design limits (But I suspect a good lawyer can get them to cover that.). Like wise if the radio quits, they will have to warrant it as it is not related to the exhaust.

I have had this discussion with a few dealers in my day. Unless you go way out, like putting NOS, or Mega HP mods, they will argue with you, but you can get them to cover most items that a normal person would view as not connected to the mod.
