Oil Degradation light Vauxhall/Fiat 1.3cdti

We have a few of the new Combo vans that when the DPF has gone through a few purges start to flash the Oil light on the dash.
I bought a Sealey tool to reset this once I change the oil but the last two times I have tried to reset the lights it has not worked and we had to get Vauxhall to do it for us.
Does anyone have the same experience and do you think it is the tool not working or a universal problem?
