Interview Help
Discussion
As nice as being at home surfing PH all day is, I need to get myself a part time job only two days a week.
So I applied for a job as a Doctors Receptionist not expecting to hear anything but now I've got an interview
I haven't been to a formal interview in 10 years and it's been soome time since I interviewed anyone, I'm now terrified at the prospect and not sure what to expect.
Now I know Doctors receptionist have a particular reputation
but surely they don't look for this quality at interview, or do they.

hi. just relax is the secret in my experience (from behind both sides of the desk). try and get an empathy with the person interviewing you even if it is as trite as "grief, it's cold today isn't it? do you find the surgery is much busier during these cold snaps?" - shows you have an interest in the job and not just there to get a few quid - even if that is the case ;-)
thankfully i rarely go to a doctor's but when i have, such ladies always seem very nice - a little hassled, yes, but charming.
good luck!

Not a Dr but would suggest all the usual for a professional assistant's job should apply:-
1. Smart attire - Trouser suit(poss)/jacket and skirt - whatever you think looks the best on you to project, smart, approachable, reasonably intelligent (regardless of your actual brain power which I am sure is considerable, you like cars!, organised image.
2. Clear speech, regardless of accent, good grammar and polite but concise delivery.
3. Slip in anything you can think of to show that you can be trusted with highly confidential information.
4. And I am guessing here, display basic knowledge of ability to discern flu from fevers and the difference between penicillin and aspirin.
Best of luck.
Edit to add - as others say, relax, oh and turn off the mobile. If it rings in the interview you are likely to be dead in the water!
