Activity over Wiltshire

I've done a bit of digging through the usual channels but haven't seen anything...what the heck is going on over Wiltshire/Salisbury Plain at the moment? We got notified of some significant ground movements (some very cool looking machinery driving about), but nothing about aerial movements. Our Keevil Airfield updates have nothing but the usual C-17 sorties, but they only do these on clear evenings anyhow and it's hard to miss those things seemingly scraping the rooftops.
Fast jets have been overhead pretty much solidly for 36 hours now (been too cloudy to ID anything), along with something much heavier loitering about well out of view that doesn't sound like any of the big RAF stuff we get here (Voyager, C-17, Herc). They don't appear to be using Keevil (we're about a mile from the runway), we've had Ospreys, Chinooks, and even had groups of 3 Apaches avoiding Keevil but flying low and fast over reasonably built up areas, which is unusual.
Even for here, where Apaches are pretty much a daily sight, the activity has been intense, fast jets are reasonably uncommon here and it sounds like there are a fair few of them.
The best bit (from an aural perspective) was on Monday evening, a Chinook and Osprey in formation flying over low, I've never seen that combo before, indescribable sound combination!
