VW Golf MK4 help

Hi guys. Basically when I was driving along yesterday my traction control light came on and stayed on and I couldn't turn it off again. Then the EPC light came on aswell. So I pulled over turned the car off and on again and the lights went away. Then earlier today the same happened, the EPC light came on after the traction control light but the EPC light was on for much longer this time and wouldn't go away when turning the car off and on again but eventually went away after about 2 minutes.
Any help guys?

id scan it with vagcom before doing anything.

id guess at a wheel speed sensor or dirt on the abs ring confusing the sensor

Ok cool thanks, I was planning on scanning it tomorrow with a friends vagcom because my OH currently has my laptop and is around 300 miles away and isn't back till the middle of next week.
