I've just updated my employers website (which was "professionally" done but was a mess of redundant empty tags) and as a result there are some new pages, and some redundant pages. Can anyone recommend a nice (free) tool that I can point at my index.html and have it report back "couldn't find xyz.html" to highlight missing files, and "no links to abc.html, it can safely be removed" (local filesystem, not live site, obviously).

My version of dreamweaver does it for me.

But there must be some free ones on the web as well.

That only does half the job. I want to check the site locally, so the checker has full visibility of ALL of the files, and can then highlight unreachable ones that either need linking to, or can safely be deleted.

Dunno then i'm afraid, unless like vex said you can get hold of a version of DW or GoLive which both do what you want. You used to be able to download a 30 day eval version which might be worth a try.
