SL500 R230 Problem with Keys

Got a couple of problems with my keys.

Key 1 - The remote works on this, the keyless entry works, but the keyless go has stopped working. Says key not recognized, was working until 2 weeks ago.

Key 2 - The spare key, nothing works except if put in the ignition you can start the car with it.


The spare key has been sat in a draw with no battery for a while. Ive read its possible to "pair" the key with the car by putting it in the ignition and doing something. But I cant find anything about that in the manual?

Is it also possible to do this with the keyless go to? Is there a 2nd part of the keyless go inside the car somewhere? Ive read some talk of a smart card or something?
