I am selling my Z4M coupe,it is advertised on here so no rules broken.

Is there a reason why someone would want to see photo's of the logbook, and the V5?

I have sent some from the service book to show running in service etc, but I was to sure why this would be needed?

Thank you in advance for any help.

I would imagine they just trying to cover all of the bases to ensure they don't make a mistake when buying a car privately.

If selling a car privately, I would be prepared to make this information available, although I may blank out the VIN number if sending to an unknown person.

You dont need to see the V5 to see the MOT history
you need the document number to see detailed history

I think it is the V5 I am more worried about, I have asked for a phone no to discuss. The MOT is no issue and it does show the previous ones.

So I do as asked and provide mot. Then the subject of a test drive comes up. I said I would take him out but he cannot drive it without proof of insurance. Not really sure what else I can do? It is a Z4M coupe and I do not want it stuffing in a hedge and it becoming my problem. Am I being fair.? Any advise gratefully received.

The test drive ia always the hardest bit although some companies do offer short term cover which may be an option.

Stand by your guns and make a judgement call at the time. Providing they have Drive any car cover you are fully legal although it is understandably a big risk allowing them to drive on 3rd party only. Selling my old Z4 3.0i I flat out refused to allow a test drive on 3rd party only...he arranged cover there and then and subsequently bought the car. Wasnt hugely expensive to arrange and clearly showed conmitment to buy.

Without proof of fully comprehensive insurance I wouldn't be letting anyone test drive my cars.

That's a very interesting app.

I didn't know such a product existed.

I know most people who have comp insurance are covered to drive other cars third party only,so do you have to get a temporary cover note to prove that you are covered comp to drive that specific car then?

I just wondered if anyone ever goes to the trouble of actually doing this just for a 10 minute test drive in a car that they are interested in.

Honestly, it's probably the cleanest most-swish app interface I've ever used. It was a joy to use.

Not sure if this is allowed, but my referral code is UW39CA8R7C... Please use if downloading!? wink no idea what I get.. But worth a shot!

Not affiliated in any way... Just an impressed customer

I just sold my Z4MC to a guy on the Z4m forum. I was on it as well.

Use your gut when selling. I was happy enough to let the guy test drive it etc, and pick around it. He was very respectful when driving it.

The experience was very easy and i would do it again. Its the first car i have sold privately, but doing it through a forum helps i think, if the people are established.

Im now in the process of buying a Discovery off the Discovery forum. So far, the process has been great, and the guy took me out for about 1 hour driving on different roads etc to make sure i was happy with the car.

Always depends on the potential buyer.

If they are young, wearing trackies and a few of them insisting on being there on the test drive I politely decline them.

If you are a good judge of character, you can suss them out very quickly.

So when you're letting someone else drive it, is that just with their third party extension?
