Stag do in Wokingham or West London
Discussion
Hi all,
Looking for some advice on a stag do I'm trying to organise. The stag lives near Wokingham and his preference is a night out in Wokingham which he says has lots of good pubs. The day part is sorted as we are going to the horse racing in Ascot. Will be lots of us going so I'm not sure if Wokingham is too small. Alternatively I was thinking of hopping on a train up to Richmond or Twickenham as these might be a better night out. Are Richmond or Twickenham a good idea for a night out? These are 30 mins on a train from Ascot which is ok. Central London is an hour plus tube so not really an option.
I've not been on a night out in any of these places so any advice much appreciated!

I live near Wokingham, and lovely as it is, what are you going to do, sit in the Weatherspoons all night?
You can be in central London on the waterloo line in probably just over an hour, or probably under 40 minutes Via Reading in to Paddington...I'm staggered that you would even consider having a night in Wokingham!

I've quoted the important bit.If you're desperate, once you get bored of the Broad St Tavern (not possible, surely) you can get into Reading in 20 minutes and finish the night off by vomiting in the garden of the Purple Turtle and having a fight outside the Sugar Lounge, as is traditional.

Thanks, but as said in my post, I've never been out in Wokingham so I have no idea of what it is like. London it is. Question is, where?

The Turtle hasn't been the same since they took off that foul house lager. You can be in central London on the waterloo line in probably just over an hour, or probably under 40 minutes Via Reading in to Paddington...I'm staggered that you would even consider having a night in Wokingham!
I live near Wokingham as well, and it's a great place for a few beers but wouldn't say it's good for a Stag Do. As your going to Ascot for the day, as other posters have mentioned you could go to London, but unless you find a club willing to let a large group of lads in then I would suggest Reading.
Have you an idea on where you want to stay as that will have a bearing on where to go out.

Fixed that for you.... The new Turtle just isnt the same.when it opened it was the only place 1 of my mates could get in (we were 16) the rest of us were 6'+ and rather hairy for our age, he wasnt.
You may as well push the boat out and treat him, get four cans each and hang around the kebab van at Winnersh Crossroads.
For Christ sake, when has what the groom wanted to do ever entered into it? If the soppy sod wants to mope round Wokingham for the night that's up to him, well no, it's probably what his wife to be has convinced him he wants to do as she knows there will be little opportunity for him to enjoy himself in the manner befitting a man about to get hitched.
Just do the decent thing, cheap flight to Benidorm, get him handcuffed to a dwarf for a weekend, and do what men are supposed to a on a stag doo.
Wokingham....f
k sake.

Now I'm missing Bar Oz and their dodgy local bands and the Trading Post's iffy upstairs room
