Revo Remap made hardly any difference for 2.0 TFSI A4??
Discussion
Yesterday I took my car to a garage to have a Stage 1 Revo Remap put on it. The car is a 2006 Audi A4 (B7) 2.0 tsfi with about 70k miles on it.
According to the Revo website it should gain 35-55hp power and 57-87lbft torque. Based on this I was expecting a noticeable difference, but I got my car back yesterday and I'm really struggling to notice any difference. It still doesn't really have much grunt in the low/mod range at all and doesn't seem to start pulling properly until at least 4k revs.
Has anyone heard of something like this happening before? Any ideas what could have caused it?
When the guy at the garage gave me my keys back he said that the technician putting the map on said it felt a bit flat and so to see what I thought and call him if there were any problems with it.
I'm not really sure what to do, as to be honest I'm a bit gutted that I spent ~£500 on it and can't really notice any difference at all, but I'm not really sure what my options are.

1 - talk to the garage / tech that suggested they'd be happy to help
2 - vague thread on Internet forum asking strangers to diagnose engine performance via a description.
2 is definitely the right option.

Personally I'd take the map off the car give it a good service make sure it's running ok and get a dyno run, then have a map reloaded and have another independent dyno reading preferably the same place as the stock reading
+1. ^^^ Your right foot and seat of pants are notoriously bad at recognizing anything by gross changes in performance, and mapping a car that's not running right in the first place would be pointless. And, if its already mapped, the first dyno run should tell you.Hi Chris,
have you spoken to the dealer that installed it since then?
If you don't get anywhere with them could drop HQ a line with details of the dealer we can have a look into it for you, there are a few things that could be wrong but setup correctly on a healthy car there's a great difference!
All the best,
Kev

Yeah this is pretty much my plan. I have spoken to the garage who put the map on and have booked the car in to flash the map back to standard. Then Im taking it to another tuning garage who are more VAG-centric and getting the updated DV fitted and getting them to give it a general once over before getting a map put on. They will do before/after dyno runs so I'll be able to see how the map has worked rather than basing it on driving experience.AudiSport said:
I had my 2005 A4 2.0T Quattro mapped by Revo. The difference was like night and day, with significant gains.
Perhaps the car already had a map of some discription?
Don't think the car had already been mapped. One owner from new and he didnt mention anything about it. I mean it could be possible but I think it is pretty unlikely. Perhaps the car already had a map of some discription?

Do you run it on normal petrol or Superplus? I find the super does make it pull better, may have a better effect after a map?
I have been using 97 RON since getting the map. I could try using 99 but would have expected a difference even at 97, compared with standard.RevoKev said:

Hi Kev, thanks for the reply. Yes I spoke to the garage today, I am going to get it flashed back to standard this week. Then I am going to take it to another garage to have a look at the hardware etc and then remap it with rolling road before/after. Hopefully this should be enough to work out what is going on with the car and get it all resolved.have you spoken to the dealer that installed it since then?

To be honest I think it is much more likely an issue with my car than anything caused by the garage putting the map on, I just think it would be better to take it to a garage with a rolling road so we can see what the results look like.
