Fuel tank sender

Has anyone fitted a more reliable fuel tank sender ,Im fed up with the gauge reading 1/4 full and only getting 15 litres in!!!

Yours is the other way round to mine then - I have run out with 1/4 tank showing on the dial. Wouldn't have been so bad if I hadn't been half way past a 38 tonne truck on the A1at the time.

The sender is easy to change, I helped a friend to change one with few tools, in the pits at a race track. Why not just try a new one first - you will then know if it is the sender or the gauge, and if it is the gauge you can send the sender back to the supplier. Gauges can be changed and repaired, but it's more of a pain.

Ps, the tank sender is like the plumbing in your loo - just an arm with a float on the end. Might be worth unscrewing it (top driver's side of the tank) ad checking the arm is swinging free first.

Thanks Qbee,I have had the sender out and reset it but it only seems to last a couple of weeks.
I was hoping to find an alternative type.

That'll only help if the sender is fine and the gauge is fine and it's just that they're mismatched ... it sounds like the OPs sender is causing issues if he says that he 'resets' it and it's OK for a bit and then it goes back out of kilter in which case the only fix has to be to replace the sender...

I have a spyda module that I have just ripped out, too unreliable, so bought a dip tube style sender and had the fuel guage recalibrated to suit

Suspect fuel tarnish / varnish on the senders internals, a good soak in carb cleaner would sort it. At the end of the day its just a rheostat.

If you are around Milton Keynes I have a spare sender unit it you want to try it.
It is off a Tuscan but they should be the same, having said that I am aware of a very few Bing different different.
