Direct mount rear brakes feeling toss

Anyone else find this? I've changed inner/outercable, but they just feel rubbish. Front is fine.

Can only think it's because they don't have a barrell adjuster on the caliper.......It's a separate one on the outer cable.

More in the cable routing along and through the frame I'd imagine. Rear brakes never feel as nice as the fronts IME.

What bike and brand of brake?

I assume it isn't a Shimano direct mount brake, maybe a TRP one, or some kind of mini-V brake? If it's the latter then all the reviews I've seen say they're a bit rubbish in general, if the former then maybe the cable routing, as it should feel just as good as a non-DM version.

I had a Bontrager direct mount brake on my Madone (under the chainstay) and it felt absolutely wooden. I replaced the cables, checked the routing and there was a slight improvement. I then switched it to a Dura Ace item which seems to feel better, although still not quite as slick as a rear brake without internal cable routing. Pretty sure it'll be your routing where there's some friction causing the issue.

Reckon it's the internal routing? FML,can't change that one .

No so much the internal routing as the radius of any bends along the length of the cable from the bars to the brake caliper.
