i track a 1.6 mx5, which is great for the Indy. Anyone have experience of lower powered cars on the GP?
On the one hand it's a box to tick, on the other it's obviously more a power circuit.

ive a feeling it will cost you twice as much money and you will only get half the fun. Best done when you've turbo'd/supercharged the 5,

Brands GP on a sunny summer day is v special, never done it with that little power but if you enjoy the car elsewhere it will be fine there, only really one big straight over the indy so no worse in something gutless than say Donny, is better with power naturally, but where else isn't? Even twisty Cadwell is far more challenging & fun with some grunt.

i find low power but great handling fine for most circuits (Indy, Snett, Cadwell). Dony is more of a stretch, and (wide) Silverstone not worth it until you have some real power. I enjoy the technique and chasing down faster heavier cars in the twisties. On the Indy that often means letting cars fly past on the pit straight and then keeping on their tail until past Clearways again. Thrill of the chase rather than brute force waiting to point'n'squirt.
So my dilemma is ticking it off the list of experiences now or waiting until i could hire an R300 (as an example). A sessioned MSV day in May is very timely for me. I'm tempted to try it...

I'm taking my lowly 19 year old 1.8 Celica to the national circuit next week.

I've heard it's a good track for powerful cars, but it's all about enjoying what you have for me.

GP will certainly be double the price (or more) unless you do the MSV sessions on 3rd May. Most GP days are £500.
I found Surtees tricky, leading onto the longest straight. Carrying as much speed as poss and getting the lines right out in the woods was the most enjoyable part for me - 150bhp Elise.

aware of the GP price, which is why May 3rd appealed. I also think this is one circumstance where sessions can help as people get more into a flow and know everyone else out there in their group.

I'm doing the road car session on the Brands GP on the 3rd. I track an old green MR2 mk2 N/A. I've done this a few times and it's immense fun. It's much better than the indy. You will find yourself pulling over a bit but there is more room so you don't lose that much speed and you can often outbrake some of the heavier cars. The afternoon sessions tend to be quieter and you can get some good clear runs. On some afternoon sessions I thought they must have been red flagged when I found I had the pit straight to myself. If you do it, wave as you go by. I'll be the old geezer doing hand signals.
