I had occasion to use the remarkably small and light jump start pack for the first time today when the engine turned over slowly and didn't fire.

I was underwhelmed on connecting the pack jump leads to the battery because there were no sparks which you might have expected. But it turned over and fired up straight away - Well worth £35.

Ive been looking at those jump packs, seem like a generally good idea as an emergency or such, not only this but you get an 18amp battery for charging your phone or such if your away from power for any time.

There is a guy on youtube who tested one of these on a Merc v8 with no battery connected at all and it fired up no issues. Made me want to get one, still not bothered yet!

There are two versions that are virtually the same 18Ahr and 51Ahr, and there's very little difference in price.

Mine starts my 4.2L diesel landcruiser with the battery disconected! I also spent the best part of an hour with mine cranking over my Hymer after fixing the fuel pump & needing to bleed the POS lucas pump, amazing things I have to say.

Just beware the one I have has one sided jump leads - eg only one side of the jaws sends power so when they get hot the plastic clamp melts! Now fitted with some steel clamps & its loads better.

I tried one out with a mate, started my Merc, two range rovers and his wife's Nissan Cube and still had life in it, a very good investment!

One of these?

link to eBay

Sounds like exactly what I need if so as the ones I've had from Maplin etc have all been terrible!

I see there's also a 68800mAh. Buy a few of those for a DIY Tesla smile
